COVID-19-UPDATE

Acuff Financial Services Office Closing Temporarily

With the Governor's executive order and the recommendation from the CDC and WHO, we are closing the office as employees self-quarantine. We have no confirmed cases of COVID- 19, but we have an employee with symptoms and another employee who has a family member with symptoms.

Beginning Wednesday, March 25, the office will be closed until further notice, while employees self-quarantine.

While no one is physically in the office we will continue to monitor emails and phone messages and continue to work remotely the best we can.

During this time, we will continue to work on bookkeeping and payroll tasks and be able to provide monthly financials to you electronically. We continue to have the ability to provide payroll and accounting services remotely.

We can work on some tax returns we have in our office although this process is slowed down as many of our files are paper files in the office. Generally speaking, tax returns will be completed and will available to be picked up when we reopen.

As of right now, the IRS has extended the filing deadline to July 15th. This means there will be no penalties or interest for filing or making a payment until July 15th. Governor Kemp also extended GA’s filing deadline to match the IRS deadline.

All of our lives are being affected and will continue to be over the next several weeks. My concern will always be the welfare of our staff as well as our clients. I pray everyone stays as healthy as possible over the next few months.

IRS NOTICE: Deadline Extended to July 15, 2020

As a number of states have issued a state-wide shelter in place warnings, more and more retail stores closing and even local counties declaring all non-essential businesses to close, I feel it is best for us to close our offices to the public for the time being. The health and safety of our clients and staff is our top priority.

Beginning Monday, March 23, we will no longer have face to face meetings or be open for walk-ins. If you have already received a phone call that your taxes are complete, please come by today or tomorrow to pick up your return so we can Efile those tax returns. To help with the number of people that need to pick up their returns we will remain open on Saturday, March 21, until 4 pm. We are also able to email the return to you and so that you are not required to come into our office.

We will continue to work on the tax returns we have in our office and be available to accept new files electronically and through the mail. We will also be available by phone to accept new clients and conduct tax return review appointments.

As of right now, the IRS has extended the filing deadline to July 15th. This means there will be no penalties or interest for filing or making a payment until July 15th. The government and health officials are still expecting at least 8-10 weeks with some form of quarantine. We want to do our part in slowing the spread of the disease. As of today, there are no confirmed cases in Walton County, but we pull from multiple counties where there are confirmed cases.

During this time, we will continue to work on bookkeeping and payroll tasks and be able to provide monthly financials to you electronically. If the Governor does shut down businesses, we have the ability and will continue to provide payroll and accounting services remotely.

We will adopt these new rules through March 31 and reassess from there as the deadline is now approximately 4 months away. We have been working diligently to try and stay open and get tax returns completed as soon as we can but have been delayed with these unprecedented times.

All our lives are being affected and will continue to be over the next several weeks. My concern will always be the welfare of our staff as well as our clients. I pray everyone stays as healthy as possible over the next few months.

COVID-19 UPDATE

3/13/2020

As tax season is well underway, we are aware of the evolving impact of the coronavirus and many precautions are being taken by local, state and federal authorities. We are weighing our ability to complete the work we have in the office and our responsibility to provide a safe and secure environment for our staff and the clients who come into the office.

Congress has already asked the IRS to evaluate their response to tax preparers affected by Coronavirus, knowing that the IRS has the ability to extend the deadline or waive certain penalties. We will continue to monitor the situation and inform you of any changes that affect the filing deadlines. We are always able to file an extension for your return, which gives you an additional 6 months to file your return. Please remember this is an extension to file your return and not an extension to pay your tax liability.

In the meantime, we just wanted to remind and encourage you that you are welcome to scan and upload your documents to us to complete your tax return or other monthly services. The completed return can then be emailed securely back to you. We use Citrix Sharefile software to transmit encrypted documents protecting your personal information. We also offer the ability to pay your invoice online. Please call the office and we can email you an invoice to pay by credit card.

We offer all of this as a convenience to you. As of right now our office will remain open. We will keep you informed of any changes to office hours as the situation with the coronavirus outbreak progresses. Feel free to call, email or text our office before you come to the office. Please be mindful if you are sick, we can complete your taxes later. The health and safety of our clients, our staff and the community are our greatest concern.

If you would like to upload your information, here is the secure link: Click here to upload files. You may also visit our website (www.acufffinancial.com) under the client center to access our online portal for document uploads and wealth management access.

Thank you for your business!
